Advantages and Disadvantages of Digital Gauges

Advantages:

  •         Accuracy: Digital pressure gauges can be far more accurate than their analogue counterparts, so for accuracy-critical work are the better option.
  •         Calibration: Digital gauges generally have a more involved calibration mechanism allowing for more accurate readings along the entire range.
  • Customisation and Data Collection: These gauges offer significant customisation options, like the ability to display pressure in various units, record high and low readings, and even create custom units for specific applications. Many digital gauges can connect to computers or data loggers for efficient data collection and analysis.
  •         Readability and Reduced Error: Digital gauges feature clear, easy-to-read displays, often with backlighting, minimizing the chance of misinterpretation or parallax errors common in analogue gauges.
  • Minimal Moving Parts: The design often includes fewer moving parts, which reduces susceptibility to wear and tear. This also means they are able to withstand mechanical vibrations – a common situation in which an analogue gauge could struggle.

Disadvantages:

  • Power Dependency: Digital gauges require a power source, usually batteries or a power supply, which can be a drawback in remote locations or when batteries drain unexpectedly. Options like solar or loop power have their limitations, such as dependency on sunlight or a continuous power supply.
  • Cost: Digital gauges tend to be more expensive initially due to their sophisticated technology and features. However, this cost may be offset in the long run by reduced maintenance and replacement needs.

Digital vs. Analogue Pressure Gauges

Digital Pressure Gauges:

  • Offer precise digital readouts.
  • Often have backlit displays for easy reading in various light conditions.

Analogue Pressure Gauges:

  • Use a needle to display pressure.
  • Simpler but less precise.

Why Choose Digital Gauges

Our digital pressure gauges are preferred for their precision, user-friendliness, and additional features. Our gauges also have features like data storage, customisable alerts, and integration with other digital systems.

Accuracy Comparison: Analogue vs. Digital

While both analogue and digital gauges can be accurate, digital gauges generally offer superior precision. They are less prone to interpretation errors and can provide finer detail in readings. We offer both digital and analogue gauges for your convenience. However, if you are unsure what would be best for you get in touch with us and one of our experts will be able to help advise you.

The Value of Digital Pressure Gauges

Investing in digital pressure gauges is beneficial due to their accuracy, reliability, and adaptability to various applications. They will improve system efficiency and safety, making them a worthwhile investment for many industries. Contact us to find out how our products can make your business more efficient.

Calibration of Digital Pressure Gauges

Calibration is crucial for maintaining the accuracy of digital pressure gauges. Our process involves adjusting the gauge (if applicable) to ensure its readings are consistent with known standards. Regular calibration is essential for maintaining measurement integrity.

Applications of Digital Pressure Gauges

Digital pressure gauges are versatile and used in various industries, including:

  • Manufacturing: For monitoring and controlling pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Automotive: In testing and servicing of vehicle systems.
  • Environmental Monitoring: For tracking atmospheric or water pressures
  • Mining Process and Power: for testing, calibrating and data logging of pressures

… and many more

Overpressure Limits in Digital Pressure Gauges

The overpressure limit is the maximum pressure a gauge can withstand without incurring damage. Understanding and adhering to this limit is vital for the longevity and reliability of digital pressure gauges. Overpressuring digital gauges will likely result in sensor damage that is uneconomical to repair.
