C.A.T4^® and Genny4^® products provide a comprehensive range of Cable Avoidance Tools helping professionals to drive best locating practice, reduce the number of cable strikes, and dig more safely.

The C.A.T4+ offers the same locating performance as the C.A.T4 but with addition of Depth measurement, allowing better identification of the route of buried utilities.

Genny4^®’s patented simultaneous dual-frequency signal output facilitates location of small diameter cables such as telecoms and street lighting, including spurs. All C.A.T4^® locator models have patented technology to detect both signals simultaneously. The power boost function in Genny4^® enables the locate signal to travel further and deeper, and couple onto utilities more easily.

Small Cable Locating

Avoidance Mode™

Avoidance Mode speeds up pre-dig scanning by searching for Power, Radio and Genny signals simultaneously. It helps operators rapidly pinpoint buried utilities and trace them across an area while maintaining safe locating practice.

Genny4 Signal Boost

Alongside its standard power mode, Genny4 provides a Signal Boost feature that increases output signal by up to a factor of 10, helping operators locate utilities deeper and over greater distances.

Dynamic Overload Protection

Radiodetection’s unique digital signal processing capabilities equips the C.A.T4 with the ability to reject electrical interference. Dynamic Overload Protection gives C.A.T4 series products the ability to continue operating in electrically challenging areas, such as near substations and under power cables, where other locators’ detection circuitry may be overloaded and no longer function.

There are three C.A.T4 models to chose from, for customers whose prime reason for using a cable avoidance tool is to avoid any utilities, then the C.A.T4 and C.A.T4+ are a perfect solution. For customers who wish to survey and report what they find and trace, the gC.A.T4+ model features usage monitoring and GPS, logging key locate parameters every second to aid in identifying training needs, compliance and recording workflow patterns, providing data on not only when and how, but also where the gC.A.T4+ was being used. Using a gC.A.T4+ with C.A.T Manager® Online, Radiodetection’s asset tracking and workflow management system, enables Managers to produce reports indicating when where and how all their C.A.T4s are being used, enabling consistent improvement programs to be introduced, reducing bad practice, improving safety by reducing cable strikes and costs of excavation programs.
