Why Calibrate?

The successful operation of any process depends on the accuracy of each instrument in the control loop. It is essential that sensors in a system are properly calibrated for the entire loop perform reliably. This requires suitable calibration methods to be used, trained personnel, and metrological traceability being maintained. Choosing the right calibration laboratory can be as important for lifetime accuracy and reliability of an instrument as selecting the right equipment in the first place.

We have a few options you can choose from:

Complete one of the options from ‘How to organize a calibration?’

You can send us your instrument, or drop it into us during business hours

If urgent, let us know and we can offer an expedited service for an additional fee

Once the instrument arrives we will send you a formal quotation for your approval. (or seek approval in person)

You can contact us at any time for a status update

After your approval we will perform the quoted works.

Standard turn around is 1 week.

This will vary with work loads but we are often faster than that, calibrations are typically worked on in order of receival/approval

When completed we will send you an invoice for payment.

If you are on a ‘30 day trade account’ then we will process as per your PO or agreement.

After payment is cleared (or PO is processed for account customers), we will inform you that the goods can be collected, or if you have opted for shipping we will typically dispatch same or next business day.

You can also pay in store at time of collection.

Normal business hours

Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm

We are closed on public holidays

Accepted payment methods
  • Direct bank transfer
  • Card payment over the phone (Mastercard & Visa only)
  • Eftpos payment in store (Mastercard & Visa only)

We typically have a standardized pricing structure for calibrations

  • Most of the time we can provide a quote/estimate even without seeing the instrument in person.
  • Some instruments may require an inspection prior to formally quoting
  • Be aware a quote is only an estimate, the quote may need a variance after we have inspected or even begun the calibration procedure, for example if we find damage or faults with the instrument that were not expected and not within the initial scope of the job.
  • We will contact you with a revised quote before proceeding further where necessary.

We have a minimum fee of $80 +GST, this applies as a minimum inspection fee and also a minimum calibration attempt fee for any instrument processed through our facility.

  • Instruments that fail a calibration are generally still chargeable up to the full quoted price, we may at our discretion charge a lesser fee depending how much time and effort was spent working on the instrument.
  • For failed instruments if possible we may be able to offer a repair or replacement
  • Some instruments may carry a larger minimum fee, for example in cases where we need to send the instrument to a 3rd party for assessment, in these cases before moving forward we will quote an elevated minimum fee to cover the associated freight costs and 3rd party assessment fees.

Typical internal flow of a calibration

Typically, the whole calibration process is completed within 1 week.

  • This does vary and depends on various factors, but more often than not we are actually quicker.
  • Your instrument will go through various stages during a typical calibration, we are efficient at moving it between various stages in the process but sometimes delays can happen, we will inform you if we expect any kind of delay.
  • Some calibrations may be sent to a 3rd party partner or supplier, in which case they will carry a longer than our standard turnaround time. We do, however, strive to provide the very best and accurate estimate of turnaround time at time of quoting.

For expedited ‘same day’ or ‘next day’ service, Zedflo is the best calibration service to look to!

We are always busy and do have a constant stream of work in our laboratory, instruments are usually worked on in the order they are received, and then in order of confirmed approval to proceed with quote, but for a fee your instrument can jump the queue when you require a fast turn around.

The fee will vary, and is subject to availability, but as a typical guide:

  • Next business day turn around add 30% to the normal fee
  • Same day (next on bench) turn around add 50% to the normal fee

Zedflo has been a pioneer in test and measurement equipment since 1982. As a leading provider of calibration services, we’re renowned for our measurement capabilities, which are among the best that Australia has to offer – performing tests in our state-of-the-art laboratory.

As a customer-centric company, we strive to ensure our clients receive the best customer service possible.

In addition, our NATA accreditation is a testament to our commitment to working towards the highest international standards in quality control and technical management.

Over time, pressure transmitter readings can deteriorate through repetitive use from the force applied to the device.

It’s important to calibrate pressure transmitters to give the most accurate readings and ensure optimal performance.

Enhanced Accuracy and Reliable Instruments

Calibration ensures that pressure transmitters provide accurate readings, crucial for maintaining the integrity of the processes and systems they monitor or control. Regular calibration checks and adjustments help minimise measurement errors, providing more reliable data.

Improved Process Efficiency

Accurate pressure measurements are vital for optimising operational processes. By calibrating pressure transmitters, organisations can ensure their processes run at peak efficiency, leading to significant energy savings and reduced operational costs.

Enhanced Safety

In industries where pressure levels are critical, accurate pressure readings are essential for ensuring the safety of operations, workers, and the environment. Calibration helps prevent accidents caused by incorrect pressure readings.

Prolonged Equipment Lifespan

Regular calibration can help identify potential pressure transmitter issues before they lead to major failures. By maintaining the accuracy of these instruments, the equipment’s overall lifespan can be extended, reducing the need for costly repairs or excessive downtime.

All services including repairs and calibrations are subject to our standard terms and conditions

Pressure Transmitter Calibration FAQ

A pressure transmitter should be calibrated by trained and qualified technicians or engineers with expertise in instrumentation and calibration techniques. These individuals may be part of an in-house maintenance team or external calibration service providers.

Pressure transmitters often require periodic maintenance. They must be calibrated regularly to ensure the most accurate results. As a general rule, annual calibration is common, but for applications where precision is crucial or in harsh operating conditions, more frequent calibration (e.g., semi-annually or quarterly) may be necessary.

Signs that a pressure transmitter may need calibration include unexpected readings, significant deviations from known values or readings from other instruments, fluctuations in readings when conditions are stable, and any physical damage to the transmitter or its connections.
